Apparatus, systems and methods for media content delivery

US Patent 8,844,000
September 23, 2014

A media content delivery system and method is operable to communicate an authorized single media content stream generated by a local programming provider (LPP) in a domestic market area (DMA) to a client facility, wherein the authorized single media content stream is multiplexed into a multi-media content stream with a plurality of other single media content streams generated by a plurality of other LPPS in the DMA. An exemplary embodiment identifies an authorized single media content stream of interest to a client; accesses the multi-media content stream communicated from a communication network at the client facility, unbundles the authorized single media content stream from the received multi-media content stream, and communicates the authorized single media content stream to a program content generation system operated by the client.

Device and method for suspension of a vehicle cabin by means of additional volumes

US Patent 8,840,172
September 23, 2014
Devices and methods for suspension of a vehicle cabin using additional volumes of air for utility vehicles. An example device includes at least one air spring for suspension of the utility vehicle cabin, the air spring being arranged between the cabin and a base frame, and a control device for controlling the supply and discharge of at least one additional volume to/from the air spring. At predefinable speed or acceleration values of a movement of the air spring, the additional volume is supplied or discharged by means of the control device in such a way that, in end-of-travel regions of the air spring, the profile of a force/travel air spring characteristic during an extension and/or return spring movement of the air spring does not exhibit any incline or exhibits only a small incline in a first range and in a second range.

Presenting displayed image information of a mobile media device

US Patent 8,843,358
September 23, 2014
Systems and methods are operable to concurrently present images on a small display of a mobile media device and a large display of a media presentation system. An exemplary method receives emulated information from a mobile media device, wherein the emulated information corresponds to at least one image that is being currently presented on a display of the mobile media device; generates at least one image based upon the received emulated information, wherein the at least one image is configured for presentation on a display of a media system; and communicates the at least one image to a display of the media system. The image presented on the display of the media system is substantially the same image presented on the display of the mobile media device. The image presented on the display of the media system is substantially larger than the image presented on the display of the mobile media device.

Trouser and method for easing the strain on legs and knees when moving

US Patent 8,839,463
September 23, 2014
Trousers and methods for reducing muscle fatigue, and overcoming range of motion restrictions in the legs caused by the friction created by trouser legs rubbing against the knee portion of a person’s leg when they are moving are disclosed. In certain embodiments, the trousers and methods use (1) an engineered dart in the mid-thigh region of the trouser, or (2) a zipper to decrease the vertical linear fabric surface in the mid-thigh region of the trouser such that the resulting tension causes the trouser fabric in the knee region to lift out and away from the knee portion of the wear’s leg, thusly eliminating or greatly reducing contact between the trouser leg and the wearer’s knee and the resulting strain.

Mandoline slicer

US Patent 8,839,702
September 23, 2014
A mandoline slicer includes a slicing blade and an adjustable slicing ramp. A series of julienne blades are selectively movable between a stowed and a deployed position above the ramp. At a distal end of the ramp, a portion of the ramp is pivotable between a first position for using the slicing blade and a second position covering the slicing blade and exposing a grating surface.

Apparatus, systems and methods for quick speed presentation of media content

US Patent 8,839,318
September 16, 2014
Media content quick speed presentation systems and methods are operable to present selected portions of a media content stream at a quick speed presentation rate. An exemplary embodiment receives the media content stream; identifies a normal speed scene in the received media content, wherein the normal speed scene is presented at a normal speed presentation rate; and identifies a quick speed scene in the received media content, wherein the quick speed scene is presented at a quick speed presentation rate.

Mobile solution for signing and retaining third-party documents

US Patent 8,838,980
September 16, 2014
Techniques for signer-initiated electronic document signing via an electronic signature service using a mobile or other client device are described. Example embodiments provide an electronic signature service (“ESS”) configured to facilitate the creation, storage, and management of documents and corresponding electronic signatures. In some embodiments, when a signer user receives an electronic signature document on a mobile device, the signer may use a client module executing on the mobile device to import the document into the ESS. Once the document is imported into the ESS, the signer can access, review, and sign the document at the ESS via the mobile device. After signing the document, the signer can use the mobile device to cause the ESS to provide the signed document to one or more recipients.

Method and apparatus for authenticating static transceiver data

US Patent 8,838,985
September 16, 2014
A method and apparatus which ensures that static data entered into a communications device or apparatus is accurate, or at least consistent with data provided to an authentication service. In some embodiments of the invention, the authentication service may maintain a database of static data associated with each communications apparatus and/or verify the validity of at least a portion of the static data.
