Schedule management interface
US Patent 8,768,737
July 1, 2014
Embodiments are directed towards generating schedules for managing team members that may be responsible to be on-call for responding to incidents. Schedules may be configured to schedule team members and manage the rotation of one or more team members assigned to one or more schedule layers. Also, schedules may be employed to determine which team member may be responsible to respond and/or resolve incidents that may be reported and/or detected. If a team member is determined to be the on-call or responsible team member, a notification engine may determine the methods for notify the responsible of the incidents. Further, the notification engine may monitor whether the responsible team has received the notification. The notification engine may employ one or more other notification methods to ensure that the responsible team member may be notified.
System and method for visualizing trace of costs across a graph of financial allocation rules
US Patent 8,766,981
July 1, 2014
Embodiments are directed towards budgeting and forecasting of information technology and services. In at least one of the various embodiments, financial allocation models may include multiple cost objects and one or more allocation rules. In at least one of the various embodiments, allocation rules may determine how costs associated with cost objects may be allocated to other cost objects. In at least one of the various embodiments, costs corresponding to one or more selected cost objects may be traced within a financial allocation model. Also, costs associated with multiple cost line items from different cost objects may simultaneously traced for efficient cross-referencing of disparate cost line items. Further, in at least one of the various embodiments, a display of the cost traces may be rendered and displayed to provide a visualization of the traced costs.
High definition LiDAR system
US Patent 8,767,190
July 1, 2014
A LiDAR-based 3-D point cloud measuring system includes a base, a housing, a plurality of photon transmitters and photon detectors contained within the housing, a rotary motor that rotates the housing about the base, and a communication component that allows transmission of signals generated by the photon detectors to external components. In several versions of the invention, the system includes a vertically oriented motherboard, thin circuit boards such as ceramic hybrids for selectively mounting emitters and detectors, a conjoined D-shaped lens array, and preferred firing sequences.
Modular equipment case with sealing system
US Patent 8,763,836
July 1, 2014
A container includes a sealing system coupled to an interior surface of the container’s lid or cover. The sealing system includes a rotatable latch that, when rotated, cooperates with a number of gears to and a cam assembly formed in the lid to actuate a number of arms or links. In one embodiment, some of the arms extend approximately radially from a driven gear and operate to move an engagement member of the sealing assembly into contact with a complementary engagement member coupled to a base portion of the container. This engagement, in turn, compresses a seal or gasket located between the lid portion and the base portion of the container.
Suspension for vehicle
US Patent 8,764,039
July 1, 2014
A suspension system for a vehicle includes two trailing arms and three lateral links to maintain a wheel in or nearly in a vertical position throughout a relatively large travel distance. The trailing arms can be an upper and a lower trailing arm that form a linkage to limit the caster movement of the wheel throughout the travel distance. The three lateral links form two linkages that maintain proper orientation of the wheel: a first linkage to limit the camber movement of the wheel, and a second linkage to limit the tracking, or toe, movement of the wheel. The trailing arms and lateral links provide a relatively large travel distance
Realtime schedule management interface
US Patent 8,762,190
June 24, 2014
Embodiments are directed towards generating and managing schedules. In at least one of the various embodiments, these schedules may be configured to schedule team members, rotating which team member is active (“on-call”). In at least one of the various embodiments, these may be employed to determine which resource is responsible to respond and/or resolve incidents that may be reported and/or detected. In at least one of the various embodiments, if a team member is determined to be the on-call or responsible team member, the notification engine may determine the methods for notify the responsible of the incidents. Schedules previews may be updated in real-time as the schedule is edited.
Personalization based upon social value in online media
US Patent 8,762,472
June 24, 2014
Embodiments are directed towards personalizing content to be provided to a user. A recommendation score may be determined for a piece of content for a user. The recommendation score may be based on a combination of an intrinsic value and/or a social value of the content to the user. The social value may be calculated based on a combination of an individual social value for each of the user’s friends, which may be determined based on the combination of a social weight, an interest probability, and a recommendation score for the friend. Online personalization of content for a user may provide the user with the tools to be a valuable, appreciated member of the user’s social network. By employing embodiments, as described herein, content may be determined and provided to a user, which may help the user gain the attention of their social circles.
Expanding colander
US Patent 8,757,602
June 24, 2014
A colander includes a front portion, an intermediate portion, and a back portion, with the intermediate portion being formed from a resilient material. The front portion is sized to be smaller than the back portion, allowing the front portion to be pressed into the back portion, folding the intermediate portion, for compact storage.
Portable sail for paddle-type vessels
US Patent 8,757,076
June 24, 2014
A removable sail for a paddle-style boat, such as a kayak preferably takes the form of a fast deploying down-wind sail attachable to a deck of the kayak. The sail includes a curved, but non-circular shaped flexible material coupled to a collapsible, continuous frame member, for example the frame member may be sewn into a channel made by the material. When mounted to the deck of the boat, the sail may be arranged in a deployed or a stowed configuration, the latter being deployable on the fly in that the sail can be quickly sprung into the deployable configuration. The non-circular shape of the sail cooperates with a hull shape of the boat while providing a sufficient surface area for capturing wind energy. The sail may also include a transparent region that helps prevent excessive amounts of spray from striking the paddler and yet still provides an adequate viewing range.
