US Patent 9,072,649
July 7, 2015
A limb-support assembly for use with an assistive device includes a weight-bearing member having a first edge. The weight-bearing member includes a planar receiving surface configured for receiving a user’s lower limb. A mounting assembly is configured for removably coupling the weight-bearing member to an assistive device. The mounting assembly includes a first mounting brace extending outwardly from the first edge of the weight-bearing member and above the receiving surface. A mounting aperture is defined in the weight-bearing member between the first mounting brace and the receiving surface. The mounting aperture is configured for receiving a portion of the assistive device. When a portion of the assistive device is received by the mounting aperture, and when weight is placed on the receiving surface, the first mounting brace is configured to press against an opposing side of the assistive device from the receiving surface.
Transceiver supporting multiple modulation schemes
US Patent 9,071,289
June 30, 2015
The present application relates to a transceiver for use in a communications system that uses magnetic field induction to transmit data, the transceiver having an amplifier for driving an antenna, the amplifier forming, with a capacitance and a resistance connected in parallel with the antenna, a parallel resonant circuit. The resistance value of the resistance is adjustable, to permit adjustment of the loaded quality factor of the parallel resonant circuit. The transceiver includes a processing unit configured to determine the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of a signal received by the transceiver, and based on this SNR select a modulation scheme to apply to a data signal to be transmitted by the transceiver. The value of the resistance is adjusted to a level at which the loaded quality factor of the parallel resonant circuit is able to support the bandwidth and data rate required by the selected modulation scheme.
Electronic device audio volume reduction in response to audio communication request
US Patent 9,071,218
June 23, 2015
Presented is a method of facilitating use of an audio communication device, such as a telephone, in the presence of an electronic device capable of generating sound, such as a television or audio receiver. In the method, a message is received from the audio communication device, wherein the message indicates the audio communication device has received a request for an audio communication, such as a telephone call, from a second audio communication device. In response to receiving the message, an audio volume of the electronic device is reduced.
Managing font metrics for a rendering device
US Patent 9,063,682
June 23, 2015
A system for printing a document that includes one or more target fonts that are emulated with at least one substitute font in a manner that preserves the original pagination and line breaks of the document. A table is provided that lists strategies/logic for enabling the printing device to emulate each of a plurality of predetermined target fonts with a substitute font. These emulation strategies may include but are not limited to, identifying at least one of a resident font for the printing device, stretchable font, local font, downloadable font, font data provided by a 3.sup.rd party, or font data that is embedded in a received document. Target font metrics may be employed as “hints” to refine emulation information for the target font data.
Vehicular threat detection based on image analysis
US Patent 9,064,152
June 23, 2015
Techniques for ability enhancement are described. Some embodiments provide an ability enhancement facilitator system (“AEFS”) configured to enhance a user’s ability to operate or function in a transportation-related context as a pedestrian or a vehicle operator. In one embodiment, the AEFS is configured perform vehicular threat detection based at least in part on analyzing image data. An example AEFS receives data that represents an image of a vehicle. The AEFS analyzes the received data to determine vehicular threat information, such as that the vehicle may collide with the user. The AEFS then informs the user of the determined vehicular threat information, such as by transmitting a warning to a wearable device configured to present the warning to the user.
Door for recreational off-highway vehicle
US Patent 9,061,569
June 23, 2015
A door and an integrated safety net system for a recreational vehicle having a chassis with a step-through door opening. The door includes a forward end and a rearward end, and a hinge coupled between the rearward end of the door and the chassis of the vehicle. A door panel or upper and lower safety nets are coupled to the door frame forward of the hinge and coupled to the chassis of the vehicle on or rearward of the rearward side of the door opening. The safety net and the door are collectively and cooperatively movable as the rear-hinged door moves to the open position or closed position. The door includes a latch at the forward end of the door to provide one operational step to release or secure the door and the integrated safety nets to the chassis upon ingress or egress of the vehicle.
Systems and methods for making and using paddle lead assemblies for electrical stimulation systems
US Patent 9,061,138
June 23, 2015
A paddle lead assembly for providing electrical stimulation of patient tissue includes a paddle body. The paddle body includes tour columns of electrodes, each column including at least one electrode. The columns include two outer columns flanking two inner columns. The paddle lead assembly further includes a plurality of lead bodies coupled to the paddle body. At least one terminal is disposed on each of the plurality of lead bodies. A plurality of conductive wires couple each of the electrodes to at least one of the plurality of terminals.
System and method for leadwire location
US Patent 9,063,643
June 23, 2015
A system and method for leadwire location may provide for recognition of the leadwire via analysis of a series of two-dimensional images that include representations of the leadwire, and/or determining an orientation of the leadwire with reference to a marker on the leadwire.
