Filesystem capacity and performance metrics and visualizations
US Patent 10,095,709
October 9, 2018
A software and hardware facility persistently maintains metrics on directories at different levels within a tree of a filesystem. The facility hierarchically aggregates attributes of files contained by directories and stores them as metric values in each directory within a tree. The stored values represent summed or otherwise aggregated data from the descendant directories and files. The metric values represent aggregated attributes such as checksums, MIN and/or MAX aggregates, sameness bits, bloom filter aggregates, queryable user tags, moving average aggregates, b-tree aggregates, etc. The facility provides mechanisms for efficiently sampling activities performed by the filesystem and visually representing these activities.
Data mobility, accessibility, and consistency in a data storage system
US Patent 10,095,708
October 9, 2018
A transactional block storage system is provided which is capable of supporting a single-phase commit for data writes specifying a protected storage unit. The storage system includes a data storage map that logically links the protected data storage unit to two or more block storage units associated with a layer of the protected data storage unit. The storage system also includes an address abstraction layer which translates write requests to the block storage units and resolves whether those write requests are atomically committed to the storage system in a single phase transaction. The address abstraction layer is further configured to detected when a block storage unit becomes unavailable during a transaction and create a cleaning kit for that block in order to prevent data loss. Additionally, the address abstraction layer facilitates moving, copying, and merging of block storage units without global locking in the storage system.
Disparity correction for location-aware distributed sporting events
US Patent 10,092,812
October 9, 2018
Various embodiments facilitate location-aware distributed competitions. In one embodiment, a system facilitates a distributed sporting event that includes multiple players traveling over non-uniform courses that are remote from one another. The system includes a manager that receives state information, such as location information, from client devices used by each of the players. The manager then transmits location information for each of the players to the client devices, which are each configured to present a graphical representation, such as a map annotated with the locations of each of the players. The system corrects for disparities between the non-uniform courses traveled by the players, for example by mapping a location on a course traveled by a first player to a location on a course traveled by a second player. Various mechanisms for establishing the mapping between non-uniform courses are also described.
Customizable information management system
US Patent RE47,071
October 2, 2018
An application or a tool is provided that allows building an application including its business rules, validation, and related sub-systems at one time from a user perspective with simplified user interface and simplified terminology. The system may be customizable at an advanced level as well. The method provided for managing information includes: forming a meta data structure containing first information; forming an application data structure containing second information; and establishing associations between the meta data structure and the application data structure wherein the first information has the second information associated therewith.
Apparatus, systems and methods for generating an emotional-based content recommendation list
US Patent 10,091,554
October 2, 2018
Media content recommendation systems and methods are operable to recommend one or more media content events to a user based on identified changes in the user's emotional state during a life event that is experienced by the user.
In service upgrades for a hypervisor or hardware manager hosting virtual traffic managers
US Patent 10,091,138
October 2, 2018
Embodiments are directed towards upgrading hypervisors operating in hardware clusters that may be hosting one or more virtual clusters of virtual traffic managers. Virtual clusters may be arranged to span multiple computing devices in the hardware cluster. Spanning the virtual clusters across multiple hardware nodes the virtual cluster may enable the virtual clusters to remain operative while one or more hardware nodes may be upgraded. Hypervisor may include a management control plane for virtual clusters of virtual traffic managers. Hypervisors running on hardware nodes may manage the lower level networking traffic topology while the virtual traffic managers may manage the higher level network processing. Further, hypervisor based management control planes may interface with the virtual clusters and virtual traffic manager's using pluggable translation modules may enable different versions of hypervisor based management control planes and virtual traffic managers to communicate and cooperatively manage network traffic.
Machine-assisted exemplar based similarity discovery
US Patent 10,089,383
October 2, 2018
Embodiments are directed towards managing data. An attributes engine may be employed to perform various actions, including: analyzing characteristics of model object features of a plurality of model objects; classifying the model object features based on the characteristics, such that the characteristics include a data type and values of the model object features; and associating similarity tasks with the model object features based on their classification. A similarity engine may then be employed to perform further actions, including: providing a similarity model that includes the similarity tasks; employing the similarity model to provide candidate similarity scores based on exemplar model objects labeled as being similar; modifying the similarity model based on the exemplar model objects and the candidate similarity scores; employing the modified similarity model to provide similarity scores for model objects based on the one or more similarity tasks.
Systems and methods for semantic sensing
US Patent 10,088,562
October 2, 2018
A semantic sensing system includes a semantic engine coupled to one or more sensing entities, and a memory having a plurality of semantics and semantic inference rules. A semantic engine is configured to interpret the plurality of rules to determine a composite semantic by inferring a first semantic, determining a second sematic based on an external input, and infer a composite sematic based on the first and second semantics and a semantic inference rule. A plurality of access control rules associate a time interval and a semantic, and the semantic engine identifies a first access control rule from among a plurality of access control rules to perform an access control action.
Blood oxygenator device
US Patent 10,086,130
October 2, 2018
The present invention relates to a blood oxygenator device comprising an equilibration-measurement unit for determining the concentration of an inhalational anesthetic in the blood of a patient, a method of manufacturing such a blood oxygenator device and methods of using such a blood oxygenator device.
Modular flooring system
US Patent 9,771,725
September 26, 2017
A first floor panel is provided that is connectable to a second floor panel in an array having a contiguous channel for retainably housing a cable. The array includes repeating units, each including one or more floor panels. The contiguous channel is formed through, between or through and between respective units. The first floor panel includes a body having a generally planar top surface, a bottom surface defining a bottom plane, and a first side. The first side includes an upper cable-retaining lip and a lower interlocking support. The interlocking support includes an interlocking support that is shaped to interlock with a corresponding side of the second floor panel to form a channel segment between the first side and the corresponding side of the second floor panel. The channel segment is adapted to retainably house the cable, spaced apart from the bottom plane. A modular flooring system is also provided involving a plurality of interconnectable floor panels.
