Using pole pieces to guide magnetic flux through a MEMS device and method of making
US Patent 8,166,818
May 1, 2012
A translational, Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) accelerometer device with precisely formed pole pieces to guide magnetic flux through a coil in a MEMS device layer. An example device includes a device layer, a magnetic return path component attached to a first side of the device layer, and a magnet unit attached to a second side of the device layer. The device layer includes a proof mass with electrically conductive trace and frame components. The magnet unit includes two magnetically conductive posts (formed of a ferrous material) located proximate to the trace, a base section formed of the same material as the posts, a non-magnetically conductive post (formed of a glass substrate) connected between the conductive posts, and a magnet attached to the non-magnetically conductive post within a cavity formed in the base section between the two magnetically conductive posts.
Backpack with side bolsters
US Patent 8,162,194
April 24, 2012
A backpack includes a stabilizing and ventilating side bolster assembly coupled to a frame. The side bolster assembly includes breathable side bolsters received in breathable sleeves that cooperate with the frame to stabilize the backpack under load while providing improved ventilation between the backpack and a back side of a wearer of the backpack. The side bolsters may be customized for a particular environment, for a particular body type, or for particular loads to be carried in the backpack by changing the stiffness, density, material, dimensions or other aspects of the side bolsters.
Systems and methods for memorializing a viewer’s viewing experience with captured viewer images
US Patent 8,161,504
April 17, 2012
Systems and methods of memorializing a viewer’s viewing experience are disclosed. An exemplary embodiment presents a program stream to the viewer, detects an occurrence of one of a plurality of event capture triggers, captures at least one image of the viewer in response to detecting the event capture trigger, and stores the image of the viewer.
System and method for determination of network and conditional execution of applications and promoti
US Patent 8,160,555
April 17, 2012
System and method for determining whether an incoming call originates from inside or outside of a mobile carriers network. An example system performs a GTT (global title translation) on an incoming number to determine the hosting carrier of any mobile phone number. After the result of the matching determination is made, a message is generated and sent to a caller associated with the call page. The generated message includes any of directory information associated with the subscriber, information associated with cost savings or comparisons associated with in-network calling, information regarding promotions for calling plans, mobile devices or device upgrades, requests to join a network, requests to join a social call plan, information regarding instant savings or call rebates, offers for online services or software, offers for reduced cost or free phone service in exchange for adoption of a predefined product or entering into a social network group.

System and method for local handset check of the NXX local exchange to determine carrier
US Patent 8,160,556
April 17, 2012
Systems and method for determining if a network of a call page has been ported to another network. The mobile communications network associated with a received call page is determined based on caller identification (CID) included in the call page and information of local exchange codes and associated mobile carriers stored in local memory of the mobile device. The method determines if the mobile communications network associated with the received call page is valid with regard to an exceptions list. Next it is determined if the determined mobile communications network associated with the call page matches the mobile communications network associated with the mobile device based on the validity determination. The exceptions list identifies phone numbers that have been ported to a mobile communications network that is different that the determined network.
m and method for enhanced display of in-network caller information on a mobile device
US Patent 8,160,554
April 17, 2012
System and method for determining reporting to a subscriber whether an incoming call originates from inside or outside of a mobile carrier’s network. An example system performs a GTT (global title translation) on an incoming number to determine the hosting carrier of any mobile phone number. When the result matches the subscriber’s carrier, the mobile device then indicates to the subscriber (i.e. mobile device) that the call is an “in network call.”
Systems and methods for generating a game device music track from music
US Patent 8,158,873
April 17, 2012
Game player performance information systems and methods generate game player performance information. An exemplary embodiment receives a specification of an audio track of interest; receives a specification of a musical instrument, wherein the musical instrument corresponds to an instrument simulation device that a game player operates when playing the musical game; determines an instrument audio track based upon the audio track of interest, wherein the instrument audio track corresponds to music played by the specified musical instrument during the recording of the audio track of interest; generating a plurality of instrument notes based upon the instrument audio track; generates a plurality of game play notes based upon the instrument notes; and generates game player performance information based upon the game play notes, wherein the game player performance information identifies the sequence of specific player actions for the game player to make during playback of the audio track of interest.
Systems and methods for security controlled LED lighting fixture
US Patent 8,159,149
April 17, 2012
A secure light emitting diodes (LEDs) power system controls power to a plurality of LEDs residing in a secure LED fixture coupled to a secure LED fixture mounting. An exemplary embodiment provides power to the plurality of LEDs and senses the power provided to the LEDs. In response to sensing the power, an authorization signal is communicated from a security sensor residing in the secure LED fixture. Power to the plurality of LEDs is maintained only in response to the communicated authorization signal.
Methods and systems for creation and use of raw-data datastore
US Patent 8,156,108
April 10, 2012
A raw-data datastore during data analysis and feature recognition abstracts away and/or reduces dependency upon typically required components of datastore training. The datastore functions to store the original data values of a data set selection, which can represent a known feature. In some embodiments, the original data set is retained as the raw data value set referenced by the raw-data datastore. The use of this raw-data datastore eliminates the need for continued manual retraining of the original data values and patterns, which can be associated with a particular known feature, each time the pluralities of evaluation algorithms and/or the target data area are altered, changed, modified, or reconfigured.
